Common questions
Is MerchForge really free?

Yes. The design tools run entirely in your browser, with no watermarks and no install. You only enter your email once, when you download.

What can MerchForge do?

Remove backgrounds from t-shirt designs, convert designs to halftone, AI-upscale up to 4×, resize to the exact Amazon Merch 4500×5400 pixel size (or any custom size), and compress the PNG for upload.

The background is left inside letters like O, P or A — how do I fix it?

Two causes. First, check the Contiguous switch on Remove background: it's off by default, but if you've switched it on, only background touching the outside edge is removed and enclosed areas — the holes in O, P, A, R, D, B and Q — are kept on purpose. If Contiguous is already off, the inside of those letters is almost certainly a slightly different shade to the outer background (a soft shadow, glow or gradient), so it isn't recognised as the same background colour. Flattening the design onto one solid background colour before uploading fixes it.

Do my images get uploaded to a server?

No — the free tools process your designs on your own device, in the browser. The only exception is the optional AI file-naming feature, which sends a small downscaled copy to Anthropic to suggest a filename.

Does it work for Amazon Merch on Demand?

Yes — it was built for Amazon Merch sellers. One click exports print-ready 4500×5400 PNG files, upscaled to fill and compressed for upload.

What file types can I use?

PNG, JPG and WebP, at any size — oversized files are automatically scaled to a safe working size. You can batch as many designs as you like.
